  1. This review might be a little late in the writing (the last few months have been a bit busy) but the memory of a lovely evening with great food remains clear. My friend and I were staying at the nearby Camelot Castle Hotel (not recommended – read my review for more details) and were walking into the centre of Tintagel in search of dinner. The previous evening we had eaten at the hotel and knew we could do much better. We saw the board at the front of the house and walked down the drive to investigate. How glad we were that we did. We sat on the terrace on a summer evening with a beautiful view enjoying delicious food. When the sun went down we retired inside to the very comfortable lounge with bar and agreed that, going on what we had experienced, staying in this B & B would have been an infinitely wiser, more enjoyable and value for money experience.

  2. The room, service where top notch, very clean. The full English breakfast was excellent. I will go back some day. The manager even gave me some sight seeing suggestions (Port William) Great pub right on the ocean.

  5. In addition to comfortable rooms (ours also had a great view), the food is delicious – both breakfast AND dinner. This is the best restaurant in Tintagel. Anthony and his staff were very welcoming and helpful.

  7. Good Food. We noticed the Avalon was offering evening meals to non residents, so thought we would give it a try. There was a small menu but it did not disappoint the food was excellent. The ambience and decoration of the bar and dining room are newly finished and superb.

  8. The views from the dining room and the patio is to die for. We were early following a long walk, I’m not sure they were open, I saw the chef in the kitchen at the end of the corridor. Of course find a table he said. They couldn’t have been more helpful. Many occasions on my recent trip to Cornwall, others could take a lesson.

The food did not disappoint, we were made welcome and given excellent food.

What more do you need from a restaurant.

    Thank you.

  12. Gorgeous B&B with amazing views. Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and the B&B was gorgeous. The room we stayed in had amazing views, was very clean, spacious & the little touches (sweets on the pillows every day, bottles of water daily, etc) added that little extra. Although we didn’t eat at the b&b of an evening, as there wasn’t much of a variety for people with dietary issues, what we saw being dished up looked lovely. The breakfast was lovely although you have to pre-order the day before what you would like and commit to a half hour time slot, something we are not overly keen on as don’t always want to decide the day before what I want to eat the next day. That aside, we cannot fault the b&b and would definitely recommend it.

  13. Very comfortable stay at the Avalon hotel. The sea view down the valley to a Tintagel Castle is lovely. The bedroom we had was well appointed and very comfortable.
The highlight of the stay though was the excellent dinner and breakfast, good choice of menu and everything was cooked and presented really well. Good value for money. Highly recommend.

  14. We stayed here at the beginning of our hiking holiday along the Coast Path. The view from our bedroom was wonderful, overlooking the sea and Tintagel Castle. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite shower worked well – overall tasteful and clean. The garden also overlooks the sea and Tintagel Castle. It’s good value and the host is very accommodating.

  15. Tintagel is one of my favourite places and to discover The Avalon was a great treat. The delightful owner, Anthony, is an excellent host and has created a unique, boutique hotel that is very special indeed. I arrived in wonderful sunshine and was served tea on the terrace, with an uninterrupted view that looks out to the ruins of King Arthur’s castle, as did my pretty and very comfortable bedroom. Impossible to resist, I was up early the following morning to revisit that incredible step back in history. The Avalon is the icing on the cake. And the homemade cake at The Avalon happens to be very good!

  17. Great place to stay, immaculately presented, lovely view, excellent hearty breakfast and a gracious host 😊. Come and visit, wander round the castle then park yourself in front of the fire with a bottle of wine 🍷

  18. Anthony is a wonderful, accommodating host with a terrific and delicious breakfast menu! The decor was so lovely, from the dazzling tile in the bathroom, the pretty and peaceful garden, to the view of Tintagel itself. Gloria was kind and generous with her time. Lots of stairs, but I would stay again for much longer, if I could. Thank you both!
